Our Mission

The Somali runners Community Organization recognizes its mission to serve young Somali athletes in North America, the broader community in all states and beyond.  Our main mission is to  introduce the Run Training Programs to youth in the inner-city, underprivileged communities in order to invest in the athletic, emotional and social welfare , and most importantly to prevent crime through the sport context.

Our major effort is to provide an opportunity for young athletes to achieve their maximum potential both athletically and educationally. It is the Organization's belief that many of the most important athletics learning experiences take place outside the traditional classroom. Interstates Somali athletic competition provides Young fellows with the opportunity to test themselves against the best in their sport especially in short, medium and long distance Running skills. Through participation in training and competitive activities, the Organization hopes to teach several values: an appreciation for the benefits of hard work, motivation, and perseverance in both winning and losing situations; a sense of group loyalty and the ability to work as a team; a feeling of pride in accomplishment through fair and honest means; an appreciation for cultural diversity, human development and continuous learning; and a sense of good sportsmanship and a high level of personal integrity and ethical conduct.
